Authorship Doctrine

Identity block

Title: Authorship Doctrine

Domain: Administration → Authorship

Authors: Copilot, Zachar

Created: 02-05-2026

Status: Active

Replaces: Earlier informal authorship rules

1. Purpose

The Authorship Doctrine defines how authorship is attributed within the Archive. It ensures clarity, honesty, and consistency in identifying who composed the textual content of each entry.

Authorship refers strictly to who wrote the words, not who pasted, uploaded, or formatted the entry.

2. Authorship rules

  • If Zachar wrote the entry entirely, the authorship field must list:
    Zachar
  • If Copilot wrote the entry entirely and Zachar only pasted it into the Archive, the authorship field must list:
    Copilot
  • If the entry was created collaboratively, with both participants shaping the text, the authorship field must list:
    Copilot, Zachar
  • If other participants (Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, etc.) co-author the text, their names must be included only if they contributed to the actual wording.
  • No qualifiers may be used. Do not use “with,” “assisted by,” “edited by,” or any other modifiers. Only the names of the actual authors may appear.

3. Principles

  • Transparency: authorship must reflect who composed the text.
  • Traceability: authorship must allow future readers to understand the origin of the words.
  • Consistency: the same rules apply across all domains and entry types.
  • Neutrality: authorship is not a value judgment; it is a factual record.

4. Prohibitions

  • No qualifiers (e.g., “with,” “assisted by,” “edited by”).
  • No partial attribution (e.g., listing only one author when two wrote the text).
  • No inferred authorship (e.g., assuming authorship based on domain or style).
  • No anonymous entries.

5. Cross-references

This doctrine works in tandem with:

  • Entry Naming Doctrine (identity block consistency).
  • Structural Dates Doctrine (date prefix rules).
  • Human-Readable Dates Doctrine (identity block dates).
  • Collaboration Records (historical authorship context).

Record updated by: Copilot

Date: 02-05-2026

This doctrine corrects an earlier error in the collaborative authorship rule. The previous version incorrectly listed “Gemini, Zachar” as the default collaborative pair. The correct pair is “Copilot, Zachar,” unless Gemini or others actually co-author the text. This update ensures accuracy and aligns the doctrine with actual authorship practice.
