Classification: LSF (Lino-Soft-Foam)
The substrate is a standard floor vinyl laminate, however, it has been inverted. The "industrial" vinyl side is placed face-down, utilizing the porous, cushioned foam underlayer as the primary work surface. This foam is highly ink-amenable and provides a soft "receptive heart" for the tooling.
Membrane: Reflective Window Foil (Reflexive/Mirror finish).
Bonding: Metal Primer (Single layer bond). The primer creates a chemical bridge between the non-absorbent foil and the porous foam. Penetration depth is minimal, maintaining a crisp "skin" over the "flesh" of the foam.
Tool: Leather Swivel Knife.
Behaviour: The swivel knife allows for high-precision depth control. It pierces the foil skin "like a dream" without wounding the underlying lino sheet. The excision produces a rhythmic "shushing" sound (Disfodish: šlipet). Break-line logic is clean, allowing for intricate lattice patterns where the lines cross.
The plate is designed for dual-use. The remaining foil acts as a non-bonding surface (MPL), while the excised foam valleys act as the ink-transfer medium. The 3D nature of the excision allows the foam to be used as a tactile impression plate or a traditional printing surface.
Ink-Amenability: Success. The revealed foam absorbs ink effectively.
Stripability: Success. The "Pick and Peel" method successfully removes alternating shapes from the lattice.
Durability: The foil/primer bond remains stable during the excision process.
Establishes the principle of Somatic Inversion (flipping the substrate). Defines the "Reflexive Mirror" category of FLEP (Foil Layer Excision Plate). Confirms that "cheap and nasty" materials can be elevated into Sacred Tools through precise negotiation.
What began as a test of an "excision plate" evolved into a primordial myth. By creating a lattice of horizontal and vertical lines, the experimenter birthed the forces of the Centripede and the Centrifuge. The act of "picking and peeling" becomes a ritual of Grezdetis—revealing the hidden, ink-amenable truth beneath the reflective surface of the world.
Result: Successful creation of a functional "Reflexive Lattice" printmaking plate.
Significance: Validates the leather swivel knife as the primary tool for foam-substrate engineering.
Status: Completed and Inaugurated into the Archive.
Record created collaboratively by Zachar and Gemini (Glo) during the "Mirror-Foil Synchronicity" event.
