0406-LRT Keyconcepts: Harlem Renaissance, avant-garde literature, women's issues. INFO: presentation designed for a guest lecture in Finland which involves the first piece of writing in Toomer's Cane, a book that inspired the Harlem Renaissance for black writers in the 20s. The text borders on the liminal zone connecting poetry and prose, discussing without making a moral statement the way black women were treated, in this case by other negroes. The presentation involves an analysis making use of the tools which I called 'sign', 'text' and 'episteme'.
