Falling,

tumbling,

diving,

floating,

shifting -

so does the leaf

reach the earth,

touching it gently,

weightless

and complete;

a sign of a cycle

and a season

embedded in

our thoughts

and deeds.

Straining,

holding,

pushing,

forcing,

keeping -

a touch of

painless agony,

only by our feet

does this earth

prevent us

from the joy

of flying.

Dreaming,

longing,

wishing,

aspiring,

visualising -

a touch of desire

to escape

from the finality

of the earth.
