Name: Dr Zachar Alexander Leonid LASKEWICZ
Email: zachar@nachtschimmen.eu
Birthdate: 19 March 1971
Origin: Australia (birth), Belorussia/Russia (parentage)
Languages Spoken: Dutch, English, French, German, Indonesian.

My name is Zachàr Alexander Leonid Laskewicz and I was born in Western Australia in 1971 to a mixture of Slavic and other European backgrounds; before ending up in Australia on colonial missions from Eastern Europe or as refugees during the second world war, my family was spread out among countries as diverse as Belorussia, Montenegro and Ireland. As a child I was always interested in theatre and music, and its therefore logical that I ended up receiving a Bachelor degree (Hons.) in Theatre and Drama Studies, a First License in Experimental Composition from the Royal Conservatory of Ghent, a Graduate Diploma in Linguistics, a PhD in the Arts at the University of Ghent, A Post-Doctoral Certificate in World Musicand finally (and most recently) a Masters of Letters from the University of Central Queensland where I majored in Gender Studies and Queer Theory. Somewhere in between all that I started a Balinese Gamelan Orchestra (Called SALING ASAH v.z.w.; they still rehearse weekly at the Indonesian Embassy in Brussels), picked up a Graduate Diploma in Multimedia Management, achieved the Advanced Dutch Proficiency Certificate in Amsterdam and went to teach literature and theatre to the Taiwanese (in English) and after that music composition to the Chinese (in Mandarin). Now I'm back at home in Ghent, Belgium, entirely exhausted but still frenetically creative. I hope that my work will mean something to you; it means a lot to me - it makes up every thing I am...
